A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, contributed by a first responder, was christened after the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
