Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
