New Details Emerge Concerning the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence home on Sunday.
The Discovery
A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently being held and denied bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Furthermore refuted circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the scene. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
