First-choice XI

Dean Henderson Not a save to make before the break until tested by an opponent's bent shot. His sliding intervention on Qazim Laci showed sharp game intelligence. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged by Albania’s main danger through Hoxha. Played more centrally to begin with later drifted out wide once a teammate came on. Seven

The defender Moved up the pitch on the ball, as he has done previously. On occasion lacked urgency when carrying play with the approach was shelved at half-time. Six

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, per usual, but may be another option to his teammate at the back as opposed to alongside him. A loose ball in the second half almost led to an opener from the visitors. 6/10

The young full-back One more composed display by the 20-year-old after his initial appearance against another side. A teammate failed to make the most of a gorgeous backheel behind the Albania defence. The role looks secure at this stage. 7/10

The newcomer His first start with the national team. Slightly sloppy when playing out though his inswinging set-pieces posed a danger. An effective pace-controller for the coach to have versus teams who drop deep. Cautioned after a reckless challenge. 6

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free-kicks created chances. Enjoyed license to move on the left but was offside upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. 6

Jude Bellingham Operated in a high role on the right and contributed with dirty work. Demonstrated flashes of quality and scuffed a shot high. Withdrawn late on by Rogers, his competition, following a yellow card. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance before halftime, his strike smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah holding position, he was forced to provide width out wide but his crosses from the touchline varied in quality. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

The captain The decisive figure scoring 77th and 78th goals in an England shirt. His first a classic poacher’s finish while the second an excellent header after peeling away away from the opposition. At 32, he continues to improve and the side are strong contenders in future competitions when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to make an impact out wide. Had a good opening following a pass by Bellingham yet the keeper denied him. Rashford had a greater an impact after coming on. 5
