The England national team will embark on their 2028 European Championship campaign at the Etihad Stadium, assuming they secure the expected entry for a tournament hosted across the bulk of Britain and the Irish Republic.

City’s stadium has not staged an English men’s match since May 2016, when Turkey were beaten 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is almost certain to stage the England side for their first match on a Saturday in June 2028.

England are scheduled to play their last two group stage games at Wembley Stadium, but, in the event of winning Group B, their round of 16 match would be held at St James’ Park. Securing the runner-up spot would mean beginning the knockouts at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
