Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
